Uroš Brkić, a Serbian racing driver at the wheel of the “Norma M20F” prototype, scored nine points in the E2 SC class at the Gorjanci track, in the Central European Zone Championship (CEZ). First place after two completed runs in the E2 SC class was taken by Czech driver Aleš Mlejnik ahead of Brkić, while third position went to Slovenian driver Vladimir Stanković.
“I had misfortune in the first run. About 100 meters before the finish I lost the throttle cable, but I still managed to cross the finish line. During the break between the two runs we fixed the issue, but it was impossible to make up the four-second gap from the first run and threaten Mlejnik,” Brkić commented.
A total of 83 drivers started at the Gorjanci track, competing in touring and GT cars, prototypes, and formula cars, Brkić confirmed. “In my E2 SC class there were six drivers, and counting the formula cars as well, a total of nine of us started. The racing conditions were not great. The track is quite uneven and unstable for driving,” Brkić pointed out.
After three race weekends (Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia), Uroš Brkić, who is defending the E2 SC class title he won last year, has accumulated 18 points and is currently second in the overall standings. The leader is Czech driver Petr Trnka with 25 points.
Next weekend features the fourth event of this year’s CEZ hill climb championship. The race weekend will be organized in Split, at the traditional 27th “Radošić St. Dujam Grand Prix.”
